This has been a year that I will always remember! The members and clubs of District 25 amazed
me throughout the year with their dedication to the Toastmasters program and to
the personal development of members.
As a district, we set our goals at the beginning of the year
and worked our plan to achieve them.
This year’s leadership team was the best I have had the privilege to
work with. Thanks to my Lt. Governors,
Division Governors, Area Governors, and appointed district staff. They took their
responsibilities seriously and worked diligently all year.
Due to the district TEAM working with the club TEAMS,
District 25 was able to achieve many successes over the year and was officially
a Distinguished District by June 24. We
grew our clubs stronger and chartered new clubs. Clubs continued to achieve educational goals
in record numbers.
I will fondly remember the many officer training classes,
speech contests, and district conferences.
Each event provided an opportunity to interact with our membership as we
learned new things together.
Visiting 85 different club’s meetings proved to be another
enjoyable way to connect with the membership of District 25. I loved experiencing what was really
happening in the clubs I visited. It
gave me the opportunity to talk to members and officers, to celebrate their
accomplishments and to listen to their concerns. Whether a speaker didn’t show up or the room
was changed at the last minute, the members adjusted and the meeting went
forward. That is “real life”
Toastmasters! Hopefully a Past District
Governor would be welcomed as a visitor
as there are still many clubs I didn’t have time to visit before my District
Governor year concluded.
I hope each of you enjoyed the 2014-2015 Toastmasters year.
I certainly did! My role as District Governor demanded intense planning and
coordination to insure smooth operations of an outstanding district. My success
and the district’s success are a reflection of the many individual
accomplishments and club successes achieved this year.
Thank you, for trusting me with the leadership of District
25. I will remember this year’s joys, accomplishments, laughter, and
friendships for the rest of my life.
Yours in service and friendship,
Marylee Mims, DTM
Immediate Past District 25 Governor
